Sulzbach Rosenberg Duathlon: 4th rank

Last weekend I participated in a duathlon race in Germany. The town is called Sulzbach Rosenberg an can be found in eastern Bavaria. It was a pretty hilly course over 7.5k running, 38k biking and a final 5k run. The weather and the conditions were great, although there were some winds during the bike course.

I had a good start and was always placed in the pack chasing the leader on position 4, 5, or 6. Both runs felt great, only during the bike i wasn’t feeling overly well that day. Somehow my rear wheel did not feel as stable as it should be – as if there was not enough air in the tires (which was not the case, I checked afterwards). Maybe it was the wind … I do not know. However, my bike split was 1h2min and 50 sec (incl. 2 transitions) was quite solid.

During the second run, my direct competitors (Thomas Peto and Enrico Knobloch) and I were quite “stable” which meant that the positions after the bike did not really change. I started my run on position number 4 and I finished on position number 4, which was great! Congratulations to the winner Ralf Preissl who again had a great race and outperformed all of us!!
